Has anyone ever replaced a side-view mirror on a newer car
Broke the plastic housing on the mirror on my Honda Element backing out of
the garage this morning.l have tools, and some mechanical skills, but am
not sure if this is a job l should take on myself.Thought?
It is a simple job, just take the inside door panel off or
loose enough to get to the 3 nuts that hold the mirror on, usually 10
millimeter nuts.
Most have a piece that you can pop off around the mirror to
unscrew it. If it has any electrics in it, you most likely will need to
take the door panel, which can be a pain. If you are not sure how to do
it, you should just take it to the shop. But before I would resort to
that, look around online at honda forums and ask. They are always helpful
before paying the stealer for something that you could do.

you can do it yourself to do so you will need to take off the
door panel behind the mirror should be some screws take them out and pull
the broke mirror off and put the new one in the same holes and put it all

It is quite easy. Grab a used one from eBay or scour your
local scrap yards (car-parts.com).
You are basically looking at removing the inside cover and under that are
a few bolts holding the mirror to the door. I believe they are 10mm.
Unplug the electrical connector, install in reverse.
you only get one chance at it i suggest taking it to a body
shop and let them install it if they break the window they are responsible
if you brake it you're buying a new one
rip that bitch off and see how it goes together. thats how i
would do it, you can figure it out unless they use magic to assemble it
